Star footballer Paul Pogba has reportedly quit the French football team and has decided not to represent his national side following anti-Islamic remarks by French President Emmanuel Macron.

According to Middle Eastern news sources, the 27-year-old’s decision came after the French government decided to honor the teacher who published blasphemous cartoons.

Meanwhile, according to French media reports, Pogba disliked the French president’s remarks and considered them an insult to himself and French Muslims, especially since Islam is the second religion in France after Christianity.

Manchester United’s star player nor the French Football Association, has commented on the speculation yet.

It must be noted that French magazine Charlie Hebdo had reprinted blasphemous cartoons in September which unleashed a wave of anger in the Muslim world. However, French President Macron had rejected to condemn the blasphemous caricatures by calling it freedom of expression in his country.
